Auto part chess set, 'Rustic Challenge'

A mighty battle is about to ensue between fantastical armies composed of recycled metal parts. Armando Ramirez creates an admirable chess set as he transforms an assortment of parts into two proud legions. Spark plugs become towers whereas sprockets form the base of each rugged piece. The horses' manes are made from galvanized wire and their bases are taken from a car's ignition. The same ignition components are used to make the base for the queen and king, and her majesty's legs are made from parts of a car's electric system. The king's cross is made from nails. Please note it is the artist's intention no to give his sculptures a fine polished finish, therefore smudges and scratches may be present.

Intricately carved from sheesham and kadam wood, chess pieces line up for battle. Dark and light tones define the opponents and playing fields. Khyali Ram craft this novel set in the shape of a circle, placing magnets beneath the board to hold the pieces in place. The board features a velvet lined drawer to store them when not in use.
